How Does i-Activ AWD Work?
Every 2026 CX-30 comes standard with i-Activ AWD, which monitors road conditions and adjusts torque distribution between front and rear wheels. The system reacts to wheel slip, steering angle, and throttle input to maintain traction on wet pavement, gravel, and snow. G-Vectoring Control Plus shifts weight during cornering, improving stability and reducing steering corrections.
Off-Road Traction Assist is also standard. If stuck in snow or mud, the system applies brake pressure to the spinning wheel and redirects torque to the wheel with grip.
What Safety Features Are Included?
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop and Go
- Smart Brake Support (automatic emergency braking)
- High Beam Control
- Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist
- Driver Attention Alert
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Mazda Connected Services is complimentary for one year, allowing remote monitoring through the MyMazda app.
How Much Cargo Space Do I Get?
The CX-30 offers 572 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats - enough for groceries plus hockey bags. Fold the rear seats down and capacity expands to 1,280 litres.
What Technology Features Are Available?
The base GX includes an 8.8-inch Mazda Connect display controlled via multi-function commander knob, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker sound system, dual USB-C inputs, and a seven-inch LCD gauge display.
The GS and higher trims upgrade to a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration and wireless phone charging.
Should I Choose the Turbo Engine?
If you frequently drive on highways, merge into fast-moving traffic, or want more passing power, the turbo engine is worth considering. The 2.5-litre turbo produces 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel - a noticeable step up from the naturally aspirated engine's 186 hp and 186 lb-ft.
On regular fuel, the turbo still produces 227 hp and 310 lb-ft. Fuel economy drops slightly (9.3 L/100 km combined versus 8.2 L/100 km), but the trade-off is quicker acceleration and more relaxed highway cruising.
How Does the CX-30 Handle in Winter?
The combination of i-Activ AWD, updated dampers, and the new brake Limited Slip Differential makes the CX-30 capable in winter conditions. The AWD system adjusts torque distribution proactively, maintaining traction on icy roads. Off-Road Traction Assist redirects power to wheels with grip without requiring aggressive throttle input.
The updated dampers improve ride comfort on rough winter roads and reduce the impact of potholes. Heated front seats, heated steering wheel (GS and higher), and rear heater ducts keep the cabin comfortable during cold mornings.
