The Mazda6 is one of the better options in the realm of mid-size sedans thanks to dynamic handling, accessible price and better fuel economy thanks to the Skyactiv technology. There is only one acceptable way to go when you have a model that already performs so well within its segment and that is above and beyond. This 2017 iteration of the popular 6 ups the ante with even more driving refinement.

The design is one of the most accomplished yet, a variation from the one introduced with the third generation in 2014 with a more modern and sophisticated twist. The front grille underlined with a strip of chrome that blends into the headlights, the elegant fog lights nests and the muscular lines have turned the 6 into quite the looker.

This year however, the modifications can be found under the sheet metal. The 2017 Mazda6 will now be equipped with G-vectoring control technology. This is the first of a series of Skyactiv vehicle dynamics technologies oriented towards the control of the engine, the transmission and the chassis to make the car even more responsive. Mazda used the expression “jinba ittai”, that means “horse and rider feel as one”, meaning they are aiming to further improve the driving experience.

The soundproofing has been improved as well, thanks among other things, to improved door seals, thicker glass at the front, and added insulation in strategic places such as the underbody and the doors. Entry-level model is also offered with more standard equipment including rear-view camera and a redesigned steering wheel. Other trim levels and optional equipment include navigation, heated steering wheel, available Napa leather seats, satellite radio, dual-zone climate controls, wheel-mounted commands, cruise control, remote, keyless access with push button start, moonroof, heated front seats, seven-inch touchscreen and more.

All versions of the 2017 Mazda6 are powered by the same efficient 2.5L, four-cylinder Skyactiv engine producing 184hp and 185 lb-ft of torque. It is also one of the only midsize sedans to be offered with a base six-speed manual transmission with an optional six-speed automatic. A Sport mode selector allows the driver to add a little spirit to the ride. And starting at only $24,695 for the entry-level GX, you will want to get your hands on this good-looking car.
