Mazda remained consistent in terms of sales last year, posting a small increase that would have been even higher had the automaker elected to not include fleet sales in its final sales number.

Mazda sold a total of 72,098 vehicles last year, an increase of 0.3 % over 2013. That said, Mazda made the decision to reduce its number of fleet sales in 2014 and overall, sales in the fleet department dropped 65 % last year. Mazda vehicle sales to consumers totaled 70,041 units over the last 12 months, an increase of 5 % over 2013.

The Mazda3 remained the most popular vehicle in the Mazda lineup with 40,974 units registered, a 1 % increase over 2013. The Mazda CX-5 was second with just under 20 000 units sold for an increase of 13 % year-over-year. The Mazda5 rounds out the top three with 3,678 sales which represents a 6 % increase over last year.

“Our line-up of award-winning SKYACTIV vehicles like the Mazda6, CX-5, and Mazda3 continue to impress drivers with the perfect balance of fuel economy and performance, and this is just the beginning,” said Kory Koreeda, President, Mazda Canada. “With the release of the all-new CX-3, MX-5, and Mazda2 coming soon, 2015 will be a banner year for consumers who love to drive.”

For 2015, Mazda expects sales to increase dramatically as it will offer two new and very important models, the Mazda CX-3 and the Mazda2. The new Mazda MX-5 is also on its way.

All three vehicles will extensively call upon SKYACTIV technology. The Mazda CX-3, a small urban sport-utility vehicle unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November will feature a 2,0-liter four-cylinder engine, available all-wheel drive, a KODO-inspired design that is absolutely stunning when you see it in person.

The new Mazda2 will replace the current subcompact in Mazda’s lineup and will feature a fuel-efficient engine, a beautiful interior and plenty of fun behind the wheel. A SKYACTIV chassis will provide plenty of stability and agility, making the Mazda2 a great vehicle for those that like to drive. As a matter of fact, Mazda is positioning the Mazda2 as a subcompact for those who enjoy driving and who want a small, agile car with a bit more punch. The interior is spectacular and offers seats with plenty of lateral support. The wheelbase has increased by 80 mm which means more space for passengers inside.
