2016 Mazda6: Thrilling design
Loaded to the gills with style and poise, the Mazda6 truly is one of the most versatile and fun-to-drive vehicles in its segment.
Since its redesigned 2014 model-year body style, the Mazda6 has taken the midsize market by storm, largely due to the KODO design that took the industry by storm and has been a winner ever since, now appearing on the entire Mazda lineup (including the soon-to-be released Mazda2). Sleek and sexy, the Mazda6’s front fascia might be one of the most attractive in the industry with its strikingly angular nose and slanted headlights that portray speed and agility at a single glance. Did we mention it’s stunning?
Inside, that same elegance and class resides, along with all the latest Mazda has to offer in the way of technology. From Mazda’s latest HMI system that features a 7” colour touchscreen display and main control knob just below the shifter that makes navigation and audio browsing a breeze. Satellite radio as well as HD radio and two USB ports ensure you’re plugged in to the right tunes at all times, and the available 11-speaker premium Bose audio system will keep those beats bumping.
However, there’s much more to the 2016 Mazda6 than just its great looks, there’s also the amazing and versatile SKYACTIV-G 2.5L 4-cylinder mill resting beneath the sculpted hood. Good for 184 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque, the Mazda6 can boogie. And with three transmission choices (6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed automatic with i-ELOOP energy regen capabilities), the Mazda6 really is the ideal midsize sedan for just about anyone.
With room to seat five, and a trunk that’ll swallow up 419 litres of cargo, the 2016 Mazda6 is also extremely practical and adaptable to everyday life in and around the city. Features such as blind-spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward obstruction warning, and high bean control system, ensure that you’re cruising around in safety and security. The Mazda6 also offers Mazda’s latest safety feature: Smart City Brake Support that will prevent a front collision by gently applying the brakes for you should you approach a stopped vehicle unknowingly.
In all, there’s very little the 2016 Mazda6 can’t do. From the way it looks to the way it drives to all its interior amenities and goodies, this midsize sedan checks all the right boxes.
